Q149: Ivory Coast Upheaval

Apparently everyone has gone nuts.  I'm trying to AVOID news now, not wanting to see what the next breaking story will be.

In recent events, the Ivory Coast leader lost an election and refused to vacate the office.  (How is that possible?)  Soldiers and other armed men seem to have finally captured him.  The photos were disturbing and interesting.

Will he be accused of treason?  Will there be a punishment?  No one seems to be addressing those questions yet.

Read and respond.

  1. Although the link was bad, the explanation above was sufficient for me. Although this act by the Ivorian leader lacked class and maturity in every sense of the words, Africa has bigger problems, does it not? I think if in a hypothetical situation soldiers were brought in to extract someone from office and they did not admit defeat, then there is the potential to be imprisoned for multiple years. The action itself should not really end in a sentence but the leader had to see this media blowout coverage when he did this.
