This may get interesting. A female reporter was barred from interviewing golfers at the Augusta tournament. I liked the way this reporter stated facts while maintaining objectivity. His best point is his last statement.

A very well written article due to its brevity but also its ability to get facts across. I know from background information that acts like Title IX have allowed women into locker rooms and elsewhere for an extensive period of time. It puzzles me to start to believe how these guards thought it was acceptable to bar the female reporter from entering, but the author of the article did a honorable job presenting the situation, and it seems like it was just a misunderstanding that I find very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a great article. I understand why there was a misunderstanding while the situation was still unfair. It was a nice gesture of the other reporters to provide her with a transcript of his comments while she was still unable to ask her own questions. I believe, to make everything fair, players should not be interviewed in the locker room but possibly in a separate area as has been done before. It seems invasive to the players especially after just having completed an athletic event. Maybe reporters should all be put in an equal area/room as is done in a press conference to make things fair for the reporters as well as to respect the players. Either way, the situation was unfair while it was probably just an unfortunate misunderstanding.
