Q125: Irwin's Zoo in Trouble

According to recent reports, Steve Irwin's zoo is facing permanent closure in upcoming months.  Terri Irwin denies the problems they are facing are any different from problems other zoos face.

Read and respond.

(According to a different article, Australian zoos may not necessarily be supported by government money. I think the zoo has to be involved directly with species conversation, but I couldn't find a definitive answer to that.  Wildlife Warriors Worldwide is funded partially by Australian government money, but no mention of whether Irwin's zoo has a partnership with them.)

  1. The situation is very sad both in terms of Irwin's legacy as well as the fact that zoos are vital in terms of entertainment, education, and preservation. I do understand though how the problems began. Whenever there is a visionary somewhere, the people who subsequently must take over will never be able to do what the original visionary intended. They should have focused efforts on other , possibly similar ideas that they knew they could accomplish. It is sad to see such an important piece of culture and preservation in the decline.
